Savoy Continues Support for Children's
Wish Foundation
Support to local charities has been a part of The Savoy Society from its earliest days. We perform our final music rehearsal with orchestra and full cast at
the Perley Hospital for the entertainment of the residents. We offer our show program without charge, but encouraging patrons to make a contribution to our 'Wishing Well'. The proceeds are forwarded to the Childrens Wish Foundation along with a contribution from the Society. Over the years we have raised some $70,000 in this fashion. Last year, with the generous help of our audience members, we again contributed to the Children's Wish Foundation. We would like to share with you the thanks we have received from the Foundation:
Dear Dawn, On behalf of The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, National Capital Region, would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations, on once again having a very successful run. By all reports The Gondoliers was a hit. The support and hard work of the Savoy Society have come through again with a donation in the amount of $3200.00. As always, your contribution is greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping make a child's dream come true. The demand for wishes from children with illnesses with no known cure continues to grow. Thanks to wonderful people such as you, to date we have never had to refuse a wish because of lack of funds. Recently we have had Mikala go to Disney world where she took her family for breakfast with Cinderella. Julianne and her family went to Northern Quebec to see the whales. John now has a top of the line computer to do his homework on. His mother tells us that he also spends lots of time playing games, and keeping in touch with friends when his illness forces him to remain at home. For those of us working with the Foundation, our dream is that one day the Wish Phone will stop ringing, that medical technology will have advanced to the point where children living with high-risk, life-threatening illnesses can be cured and experience a full and adventurous life where they can live to their full potential Until that time, the Foundation will be there to help make dreams come true. With warmest regards, Jane Brennan
